Ah ... I like that - that we have evidence each and everyday all around us we just have to see with our heart.

There are actually quite a few passages in the gospels where Jesus talks about and handles things like bread and wine. The most well-known one is of course the passage that tells us the story of the last supper, where Jesus handed out bread and wine to his disciples, told them that they were or represented (this is a point of theological debate) his own body and his own blood and told the disciples that they would only be allowed to enter the future Kingdom of Heaven if they were willing to eat his flesh and drink his blood.
These words of Jesus are of course of the utmost importance for all true Christians who regularly eat Jesus'flesh and drink his blood because they are convinced that they simply have to do this because Jesus ordered them to do so and that failing to do it will mean that they will never be allowed to enter the Kingdom that God will establish at the end of our human history.
After his resurrection Jesus appeared quite a number of times to both individuals and groups. Including people who had known him very well like his apostles and Mary Magdalena. Mary Magdalena was the first person who saw Jesus after his resurrection. She had known Jesus very well. But she did not recognize him and thought he was the gardener. And there are quite a few other passages in the gospels in which Jesus appears to people who knew him quite well, but did not recognize him.
This could mean that after his death Jesus did not get the body back that he had had during his lifetime. After all the body that had been crucified must have looked badly damaged and frightening. It is possible that after Jesus'death and resurrection his Father gave him another body that he could use until his ascension.
Or is there anybody who has a different explanation?

Wow ... this is going to be a tough week. I used to think that no one was tougher on me than me but I guess that's totally wrong and that God is way tougher on me than I woulda realized!

sorry Benny Hinn is a faith healing t.v. Evangelist who I have huge problems with. Elmer Gantry is a dated reference to a huckster who preached to con money out of people.

Stephen Ministry!!
BTW: this statement - "Many people will think of Benny Hinn or some other Elmer Gantry like figure" ... all I can say is WHO? You're talking over my head but I guess I'm not like the "normal" person!

I appreciate that question Monica and my suspicion is that when you do respond to that call you'll feel it responded to in your own life too. It's in reaching out that we're reached. At least that's as far as my thinking takes me.

Sometimes it's hard to respond to a call to care for the unloved, unwanted, forgotten, the lost, the least when we ourselves feel all of those things ourselves. How do we respond to such as we when we don't believe/feel as if Jesus has reached out to us and cared for us?
